A year after opening its doors in one of Scotland’s most loved lochside villages, Luss Distillery has become a place to discover whisky and gin side by side, with the famous Loch Lomond on its doorstep

October 2026 marks Luss Distillery’s first birthday. In just 12 months, the state-of-the-art spirits destination has welcomed more than 55,000 visitors and hosted nearly 5,000 tastings and tours for seasoned whisky drinkers, gin lovers and spirit newcomers.
A five-star first year

The distillery is owned by independent Scottish distiller Loch Lomond Group. It is the brand home of its imaginative single malt brand Loch Lomond Whiskies and a working distillery for Ben Lomond Gin (known for its adventurous spirit), which has moved its entire production to Luss.
Luss Distillery offers a variety of gin and whisky tastings, and boasts a separate discovery centre and retail space where visitors can also browse the wider Loch Lomond Group portfolio, including Glen Scotia, Littlemill and a selection of champagne and spirits. There’s also an onsite café, Scoff & Patter.
The distillery holds a five-star rating on Tripadvisor and a 4.9 on Google Reviews. Within months of opening, it was also awarded a five-star quality grading by the Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions — an accolade usually earned over years rather than months.
Designed to be explored

You don’t need to book a tour to step inside. The distillery opens its doors for visitors to wander through its free, immersive discovery area at their own pace, and offers dedicated whisky and gin tastings and tours for those who want to go deeper.
The people behind it

“Luss Distillery is unlike anything else in Scotland,” says Brand Home Manager Tony MacLean, who has led the distillery through its first year. “It is a place where the stories of whisky and gin are brought together under one roof, making it incredibly unique and appealing to visitors with very different interests.
“From the moment visitors arrive, there is a real sense of discovery, both for the local area and for our offering. Guests consistently talk about the opportunity to get behind the scenes, hear the stories behind our brands and taste premium whisky and gin in such a spectacular setting.”
Raise a glass to year one

From 9th to 16th October, Luss Distillery is celebrating its first birthday with a week of offers including 25% off all gin and whisky experiences, free bottle engraving for bottles purchased at the distillery shop, 10% off merchandise and a Serve & Slice offer at its onsite café Scoff & Patter, where visitors can enjoy a slice of birthday cake with a Ben Lomond Gin serve.
The distillery is also celebrating with the local community, opening its doors to Luss residents and local businesses who have supported it through its first year.
A village worth visiting

Luss has long been a popular destination to visit or stop at on your way up to the Highlands. See our guide for the best things to do in the village here. It sits on the west bank of Loch Lomond within the National Park, with stone cottages, a pier and a shingle shore — all within an hour of Glasgow.
