Shine on with these slick pieces
Over the rainbow
Iridescent interior pieces, with their oil-slick appearance, are a bold statement for the home – but when used correctly can be completely mesmerising. “They add additional light to colour, texture and shape and enhance the atmosphere” says interior designer John Amabile. If using large-scale iridescent items such as these tiles, lights or radiators, let them really shine by keeping the rest of the decor simple. As for working in the trend using smaller pieces, such as tableware or personal accessories, there really is no shortage of iridescent items out there at the moment. Be careful not to get too carried away, however: “Used wisely, an iridescent finish can make a successful interior design concept,” says John. “But use it sparingly as too much will create a dull bling.”
