Old St Paul’s

Cities have secret places where silence can be found – where you can escape from the noise of people as well as that of trains, buses and cars. The places that act as an antidote to the volley and thunder of a city’s ambient score are to be shared only with those who understand the need for the secret in the first place.
So, paradoxically, by writing this piece, I could be destroying somewhere that has become very special to me – my own secret space, which lies below my apartment in the Old Town of Edinburgh
