The John O’ Groats Hotel, originally built in 1875, has been given a colourful Norse-style extension by its new owner, holiday letting company Natural Retreats. The new buildings rely heavily on local materials such as Caithness stone, Scottish larch timber and sedum for the roofs. The new hotel and self-catering lodges open for business in August.
